While the American flag was at half-mast Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, TC Henderson Elementary held a brief flag ceremony. They honored Memorial Day and celebrated their newly created school flag.
The Student Forum had previously held a flag design contest and the winning design was created by fifth-grader Noah Pierce.
To honor Noah’s new design, the forum, made up of Korinne Hawk, Alyssa Myers, Cray McCall, Zane Ramey, Grant Reese and Samuel Whitmire, wrote the whole program for the ceremony. Zane helped Noah display and then raise the new flag on our flag pole. The orange and black design bold against the blue sky and waving below the red, white and blue.

School thanks St. Timothy church
Pisgah Forest Elementary School would like to thank St. Timothy United Methodist Church for providing additional food to supplement the school’s Backpack Buddies program over Spring Break. Backpack Buddies is a program that partners MANNA FoodBank with Transylvania County Schools’ Child Nutrition Department to provide nonperishable food items on a weekly basis to more than 170 students and their families in the Transylvania County School system.
The members of St. Timothy’s saw a need for additional food over the Spring Break holiday to nourish these families and offered their help. Church members gathered or purchased the food, packed the items and delivered the packages to Pisgah Forest Elementary the week before Spring Break. Lisa Thompson, a member of St. Timothy UMC, led the project.
