PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has suggested for the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) to address the controversy it is currently in.
“A thorough explanation would help people understand the issue better and they (NFC) should also respond to what was said in the Auditor-General’s Report,” he said after chairing a meeting witht he National Security Council on the country’s flood preparations today.
Last month, the Auditor-General’s report highlighted some discrepancy in the NFC operations. The report showed that the NFC production in 2010 was only 3,289 cows or 41.1 percent of the target set.
“It is up to them (NFC) if they want to explain it,” Muhyiddin said.
On Oct 31, Agriculture and Ago-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar explained that the project was a success and had met its targets.
Muhyiddin also said that there was no need for the call for Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil, whose family was involved in NFC, to resign from the Cabinet due to the controversy.
He was responding to the call made by MP Kinabatangan, Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin,in the Dewan Rakyat recently, that those responsible for NFC debacle should resign.
