GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) – Autopsies have confirmed that a 2-year-old boy and his 67-year-old grandmother drowned last week in koi pond in Greenwich.
A spokeswoman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Monday autopsies over the weekend determined the victims drowned and their deaths were accidental.
Police identified the victims Friday as Anna Furano and her grandson, Massimo Furano.
The woman was babysitting her grandson.
Police received a 911 call from the address Thursday morning and found the victims unresponsive in the shallow, manmade pond for exotic fish. They say the small pond is surrounded by a low stone wall and fence enclosure about 2 1/2 feet high.
