Koi fanciers from across North America — along with their prized fish — are heading to San Jose for the fifth annual Northern California ZNA Koi Show this weekend.
More than 30 tanks will be set up, and the public is invited to attend and watch as the “living jewels” of the fish world compete against each other for awards based on their size, color or pattern. Judging will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12, with the accompanying koi show continuing until 5 p.m.
Koi artists, pond builders, fish vendors and koi health specialists will participate in the two-day show, as will bonsai artists.
The winning fish will be on public display when the show continues from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
Admission is free. All events will take place at the San Jose Airport Garden Hotel, 1740 N. First St. For details, check the website of the ZNA (Zen Nippon Airinkai) chapter, www.znanorcal.org.
