Golkar won’t touch PSSI debacle: Golkar official
Golkar deputy chair Agung Laksono said Thursday that his party would not interfere in the ongoing national soccer association debacle.
“That problem is left to KONI [National Sports Council] and KOI [Indonesian Olympics Council] to deal with, so there’s no need to involve the party,” he said Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Agung, who is also the Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, said he seconded the recent decision by Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Andi Mallarangeng to denounce PSSI’s leadership under its chair Nurdin Halid and secretary-general Nugraha Besoes.
Nurdin previously headed a team that helped Golkar win an election victory in Sulawesi.
The Democratic Party’s advisory member Syarief Hasan urged PSSI treasurer Achsanul Qosasih, who is also a party member, to comply with the government regarding the matter.
“The sports minister’s decision applies to everyone. If PSSI management is not acknowledged, then Pak Achsanul is also denounced,” he said.
